Staff Accountant

Alpine CPA Solutions is a small CPA firm in northern Virginia. We work hard to help businesses make data driven decisions to meet their business goals. We partner with our clients to provide informative and impactful strategic analysis.

We are looking a Staff Account located in the DMV area that wants to work closely with businesses and build on their schooling. The position is part time hourly (20-25 hours/week), with potential to become full time. You will have the opportunity to work one on one with highly experienced CPAs. 

Job Overview 

The work will be accounting focused, assisting with onboarding and maintaining client books. Exposure to reporting and analytics for clients of various industries, mostly focused on small business. With visibility into tax preparation, planning and filing. Majority of the work will be done in Quickbooks, Xero and excel, a base knowledge in those platforms would be a bonus. Depending on performance and availability the number of hours and complexity could increase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately code and enter invoices for payment and disbursement

  • Work with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies/disputes and W9/insurance compliance

  • Perform regular reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts

  • Research and resolve discrepancies or processing issues

  • Prepare and present variances to management as needed

  • Support team for other general accounting items and projects as required

  • Communicate effectively with various employees and management across the company 

  • Provide analytical analysis of monthly activity 

Depending on Performance Additional Opportunities include:

  • Assisting with regular financial reports for business owners, identifying KPIs and making impactful conclusions

  • Assisting with tax preparation, strategy and analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or related field preferred

  • Strong accounting skills with base knowledge of US GAAP

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite

  • Ability and flexibility to learn new software platforms. Computer and software intuition preferred. 

  • Must want to continuously learn and develop

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with a strong attention to detail 

  • Self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision
